Hydration boost at the finish line – Pharma.mt at Lifestar Malta Marathon
“If you want to run, run a mile. If you want to experience a different life, run a marathon.“ – Emil Zatopek.
Marathons have always been considered special events, but do you know where they come from? The history of marathons dates back to Ancient Greece, where it is believed that Pheidippides ran from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens to deliver news of victory against the Persians.
This inspired the modern marathon race that we know today. Over the centuries, every country has embraced this tradition and made it their own, including Malta. Since 1985 a marathon has been held annually on the island.
Despite challenging weather conditions this year, athletes from all over the world did not hesitate to participate. Pharma.mt took part in the marathon in two ways—as dedicated runners and committed sponsors. Three members of our team completed the Half Marathon, covering 21.1 kilometres. Each one of them encountered a unique journey. Let’s see if their reflections may be a source of inspiration for participants in future marathons.
Patrick Nicholl, Finance & Administration Director: “I was deeply moved by the diversity of participants—from foreigners to individuals of all ages and even those with disabilities. This event reaffirmed the inclusive and accessible nature of sports like running.”
Patrick also highlighted the event’s significance in aligning with our company’s values.
Daniela Chunchukova, Marketing Executive: “I didn’t believe in myself as much as I should have, and after yesterday, yet again, my body showed me that it is so strong. And your mind is your biggest asset. If you can work with that, you can achieve anything. And no matter what you are going through in life, you always have YOU, and you need to love yourself. For me, that is the most important lesson.”
Chiara Scerri, Business Development & Tender Manager: “Once my father told me – You are one of many. If they can do it, you can do it. Against all odds, it is about showing up and doing your best”.
Pharma.mt supported not only our team members but also all participants. Over 3300 runners received our Quest products in their goodie bags. At the finish line, our team handed out Forte Hydra, an electrolyte solution that helps to rehydrate and replenish the body with minerals, which is essential after training and physical efforts such as marathons.
As a Maltese pharmaceutical company, we want to preserve our local community’s health. That’s why participating in events like this allows us to keep up with our values and strive to better your health.
The LifeStar Malta Marathon was more than just a marathon – it was a great opportunity to gather people through their common passion for sports. Since 1985, the number of participants increased greatly to more than 3 thousand this year.
It was our pleasure to be a part of it and to contribute in our way!
See you next year!
